Brooks was in charge of the driving,
Shay was in charge of the music selection,

 happy as can be cruising around the cul-de-sac.

I mean really, they looked like lovebirds.....

It's a shame they're cousins :)

Kale's 7th birthday....
with a cake that looks a whole lot like the one the had a year ago....:) In my defense it was his request: half chocolate, half vanilla with a number seven. I think I'm ready for the Cake Wars show on Food Network, don't you?

Easter Eggs!

I've already decided that even when the kids are grown and leave the house, I'll make still make Dain dye them with me.

Kale was quite pleased with his creation.

Bailey made a sign for the birds, too. Can you tell what letters she knows best? There's nothing better than three year old "E's" with a few extra lines added in for good measure! When Kale went through that phase I went round and round with him trying to get him to write them the correct way. For my own personal sanity (and 'cause they're kinda cute) I've decided that with Miss Bailey I'll let the kindergarten teacher take on that battle in a couple of years.

Somebody finished his first "marathon" today at running club!

They run twice a week...and he averaged between 1.5-2 miles each day.

Not too shabby for a first grader ;)

Spring Break 2012

 Spring Break was rather rainy this year, but it was fun nonetheless!  Kale was really into making up games and writing out the rules to go along with them.  At some point he created a game called "Find the Bag of Money" and the kids decided they needed robber masks so I channeled my inner Martha Stewart and created these bad boys......

They were ripped to shreds within the hour, but that's to be expected :)

The kids painted several pictures and Bailey would make up never-ending stories about her drawings (and then the princess walked on a rainbow, and her mom got mad, and she found a flower, and there was a swing set, and, and, and.....) 

I created a deluxe-sized tent for the girls but it wasn't too long before they managed to turn it into a giant slide.

Perhaps not the safest choice, but I had to give them credit for their creativity.

Miss Shay took good care of her dolls.

We even watched the movie "Dolphin Tale," which is really cute, but I finally caved after three days of rain and let them head out side to burn off energy.  Kale and his neighbor friend were easily entertained :)

Later in the week Dain and I took the older two bowling, and I probably shouldn't admit this publicly, but the three-year-old (who was using a ramp thing to bowl) beat us all.  And I'm not going to name any names, but the person who lost was NOT me or Kale ;)

 The good news is, there's only 32 days until summer break!! (Not that I'm counting or anything :)

Seven!

Seven Reasons We Love You So..........

1.  You do thoughtful things like donating your own money to those in need  or setting the table without being asked.

2.  You can read chapter books and your reading skills progress more and more everyday.

3. You let Shay Shay tackle you and hide with you during hide-and-seek, even though she usually gives your spot away :)

4.  I'm pretty sure you're already better at mental math than me.....daddy better watch out, he's next!

5.  You are agressive and filled with a competitive drive to play hard when you step on a field or court, but instantly turn back to your sweet laid-back self when the game is over.

6.  You still like to snuggle with us (and Hop the bunny, too).

7.  Your teacher says you are always kind and a great role model in your first grade class.

Busted

Tonight I busted Miss Shay-Shay standing on the little table in the kids' room, holding a pretend microphone, belting a song out at the top of her lungs.  It really was adorable, however,  this in conjunction with her recent desire to test limits by saying things like, "No, no mommy," and "I no do that" while throwing objects on the ground have led me to the believe that God has forgotten our agreement that my third child was to be a tranquil, quiet, rule-follower......

Good thing she's cute ;)
