And the Waiting Continues....

Murphy's Law was in full effect today......

I spent all day Thurs/Fri getting everything cleaned and organized, finishing homework, making multiple arrangements for the kiddos to stay with relatives, ect.....so Saturday would go smoothly.

Woke up this morning to a call from the hospital saying that something like FIVE babies were either born Friday night, or were soon to come Saturday morning, and they had SEVEN women "recovering" and awaiting to be sent home.  Geez!  Don't these people understand that it's MY turn to have a baby?! :)

Needless to say, they have rescheduled me for Sunday morning (pending no more crazy nights).  I was pretty bummed at first (you know, emotional let down) but two good things have come of this:
1. Dain and I spend a relaxing day at home and Bailey got a lot of one-on-one attention, which she loves b/c Kale is still at his Aunt Kelly's house. 
2. I'm getting to watch KU stomp Mizzou, which always cheers me up

The End is Near!!!

Today marks one week until my official due date.....yea!  I went to the doctor this morning, and everything was fine; I'm "progressing" although, obviously she still hasn't come!

That being said, if she doesn't grace us with her presence this week (read: after I attend the KU vs K-State game Wednesday), they are going to induce me on Saturday morning!  Hooray!  In typical older brother form, Brett's response was, "You do know that we play Mizzou at 1:00, right?  That's not going to work for me."  (He was kidding....I think....).  On the other hand, Dain's more concerned that I'll actually go into labor at Allen Fieldhouse.  I told him that one way or another, we WILL be staying until the end of the game :)  A gal's gotta have her priorities, right?  And besides, the hospital's not that far away.....

Still (not so patiently) Waiting

We're still waiting for the newest member to officially join our family.  My due date isn't technically until March 9th, but since the other two were early, I'm *hoping* this one is, too.  I'd like to say that I'm patient....but I'm really not.....I WANT HER TO BE HERE ALREADY!!  :)  That being said, I'm feeling great; my energy has returned (hooray) and I should be (in theory) getting a lot done, but instead I feel like I'm slowing watching the clock tick away in anticipation of the baby's arrival.  Funny thing is, I know that when she comes and I'm up at 2 a.m. feeding her I'll be grumbling about how I miss my sleep! I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.......

Despite my lack of patience, my children have been doing a superb job of keeping me busy.  I swear Bailey has figured out that my belly makes me incredibly slow moving, because she loves to dart off when ever I dare to set her down in public (i.e. the library....it's a 1 1/2 year old's paradise of maze-like rows of books).  She also likes to use my lack of speed to take off when ever I mention the need for a diaper change.  On the up side, I think I burn an extra 500 calories a day just chasing her.

Kale is up to the same old stuff. I got a flyer about kindergarten round-up in the mail (KINDERGARTEN....can you believe it??).  Part of me wanted to send it back with a note that said, "You must have the wrong address.  My boy is much too little for such things."  Another part of me thought, "Hallelujah!  Can he go ahead and start NOW?" :) 

I have a distinct feeling that he is going to keep his teachers entertained (God only knows what stories he'll tell them).  A couple weeks ago he drew a lovely picture of a jayhawk stomping on a (pooping) longhorn, and all I could think was, Next year his teacher is going to present a lesson on animals and ask, 'What do you know about tigers or bears or longhorns?' and my son is going to blurt out, 'They suck!' or something of that nature.  I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!

Just Another Day

I have some fantastic video clips of my children doing a variety of embarrassing stunts that will someday make great blackmail footage!! However, I'm having a heck of time getting them to post to my blog, so I guess you'll have to come to my house to see them....or catch the live show.....

Super Bowl...Bailey Style

What do you get when you combine a gigantically pregnant mama + a 1 1/2 year old stuck at home on Super Bowl Sunday?

A pretend shopping/tea party/football extravaganza! (With ice cream, of course)

We had plans to go to a friends house for the big game, but they called Saturday to let us know that several members of the family had been sick with the flu, and although they were feeling better, they wanted to give us fair warning.

Given the fact that I am in my final month of pregnancy and Bailey has been known to lick random things (and spends about 50% of the day with her fingers jammed in her mouth), we decided that it would be best for us girls to stay home.

Here's the result:

Don't Let That Cute Smile Fool You...

A Few of Bailey's Highlights from Tuesday:
(yes, folks....this is just ONE day)

• Got a marker out of the junk drawer and scribbled all over the side of the drawer
  
• Ripped a page out of one of my EXPENSIVE textbooks for school


• Pulled off her pants AND diaper and ran around the living room yelling, "I pee-pee! Ewww!"


• Pulled out one side of her pig-tails on our way to story time (after I'd spent a good 15 minutes trying to get them into her hair)


• Dumped a whole cup of water on herself then proudly exclaimed, "I a MESS!"


• Dumped her plate of food on the floor after lunch while sweetly announcing, "I all done!"


• Dumped out the whole big bucket of crayons then said, "Uh-oh! All gone!" (are you noticing a "dumping" trend here??)


• Made up for it all by climbing on my lap and wrapping her arms around my neck saying, "I luuuuv you Mama" :)

(Note that she is only wearing one sock?! I'm sure I'll find it "hiding" in my silverware drawer or something)

A Little Bit of This and That

I don't know about you, but I FINALLY feel like I'm getting back into a semi-normal routine after all the mayhem that surrounds the holidays! Nothing too exciting has happened in the past month......

• The baby is growing, and so is my discomfort level! I really can't complain. I have (knock on wood) just about the easiest, pain-free pregnancies, but I've officially reached that "I-feel-like-a-beached-whale" stage where I would like my body to be back to normal :)



• We've been having lots of fun with Mr. Kaden and Baby Brooks. Since Kelly is on her maternity leave, we've been seeing a lot more of them, including weekly trips to story time!
  
  

  (When cousins come to stay, you HAVE to do cool things like take naps in a "tent")



• We attended baby Jordan's baptism. I am so honored to be his Godmother!

• Several batches of cookies and muffins have been made. Bailey loves to help out....otherwise known as making a giant mess of flour, sugar, and rice krispies that she dumps between measuring cups.
  
• We (okay, Dain with a little help from Kale) painted over the dark purple, wildcat-themed walls in our bedroom that made me cringe every time I crawled into bed. It should be noted that I have nothing against "plum" colored walls, but it made our room seem very dark and gloomy!
